A lighter Zoho CRM alternative
Zoho CRM is a capable CRM with a generous free edition and a whole suite of business apps behind it. If you are one person who just wants to stop losing track of deals, Pipeline Pal is a smaller option: a free CRM you run by chatting with ChatGPT or Grok.

Pick Zoho if…
You want a full CRM with workflows, reports and mobile apps for a small team, or you already use other Zoho apps.
Pick Pipeline Pal if…
You work alone and want to manage your pipeline in the AI chat you already use, with no setup.
Zoho is generous. Is it more than you need?
Zoho CRM’s free edition supports up to three users and includes contact management, follow-up reminders, workflow automation, email templates, import and export, standard reports and mobile apps. Paid editions add email integration, multiple pipelines, built-in calling, forecasting and AI agents. For a small team that wants room to grow, that is a strong offer.
For a single freelancer or founder, the question is less “what can it do?” and more “will I keep it updated?”. Pipeline Pal answers that by living in the chat. There is no CRM tab to remember: you mention the call while you are already talking to ChatGPT or Grok, and the deal moves.

When Zoho is the better choice
- Two or three people share the pipeline. The free edition covers up to three users.
- You want automation. Workflow rules on the free edition already go further than Pipeline Pal.
- You want a dedicated mobile CRM app. Zoho has one; Pipeline Pal has no app of its own.
- You use other Zoho apps. Mail, Books or Desk connect naturally to Zoho CRM.
- You want something simpler but still Zoho. Zoho also sells Bigin, a pipeline-focused CRM aimed at people moving from spreadsheets.
Who Pipeline Pal fits
Pipeline Pal fits solo sellers who would rather not learn a CRM at all. There are no modules, layouts or workflows to set up. You get leads, customers, deals in seven stages, an activity timeline and a few built-in views: the board, the daily brief, deals closing soon and who needs a follow-up.

Because everything happens in conversation, a debrief after a meeting is one message: “Met Kai at Orbit, they want a pilot in January, budget around 3,000.” Pipeline Pal adds the lead, the deal and the note in one go.
How to set it up

- Enter the MCP server URL:
https://plugins.works/pipeline-pal/mcp - Sign in to plugins.works, or create a free account, and confirm the connection.

In ChatGPT you add the same URL as a custom MCP server. Whether you can do that depends on your ChatGPT plan and workspace settings; the ChatGPT guide has the steps. For more detail on Grok, see How to connect Pipeline Pal to Grok.
